Operator Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and
skilled punch press set-up operator to join our team in a dynamic
and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible
for setting up and operating punch presses, ensuring production
efficiency and product quality. Responsibilities Set up all
assigned machinery including presses according to work
instructions. Check work instructions to ensure accurate settings
for jobs. Inspect tooling and equipment for overloads or improper
maintenance; report issues to foreman. Run production samples and
troubleshoot to meet customer specifications. Check products
against samples using various gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
Visually inspect production parts for defects. Separate materials
used during setup from production runs. Train new operators,
ensuring proper setup and assignment of PPE. Support safety and
lean initiatives by working within OSHA guidelines. Address
non-conformance issues from production runs. Report machine
maintenance issues to the maintenance department. Sample new
production runs and complete pre-production approvals. Return all
tools, gauges, and parts to proper storage areas. Perform
preventative maintenance on assigned equipment. Inventory and order
supplies and tools as needed. Provide input during employee
evaluations. Complete all paperwork accurately and timely.
Participate in activities to enhance personal skills and department
processes. Maintain an organized and clean work area. Communicate
problems and issues to the supervisor. Follow all written and oral
instructions. Maintain acceptable attendance standards. Comply with
all company policies and procedures. Essential Skills Experience
with punch press, setting die, troubleshooting, and running
machines Ability to set up machines and troubleshoot issues.
Proficient in blueprint reading and using measuring equipment. 3
years of experience as a set-up technician or equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or
equivalent. Willingness to complete TMA training programs. Ability
to pass English, safety, and math tests. Knowledge of company
safety programs including lockout/tagout and hazCom. Effective

Environment Work in a family-owned machine shop dealing with
various metal parts. The facility is not temperature-controlled,
and you will be required to stand for the entire shift. Job Type &
Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Schiller
Park, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is
$25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits
and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
