Job Description:
At Epsilon, we do more than collect and store data. We help some
of the world’s biggest brands discover real opportunities inside
the data types, delimiters, and decimals. We are looking for a Data
Center Engineer to help with running the day-to-day operations of
our data center in Oak Brook, Illinois. The person in this position
will assist team members with new builds in remote sites, and work
with different departments within the company to deploy new
environments. This individual will be onsite in the data center and
will be responsible for receiving new equipment, planning rack
layouts and infrastructure cabling. Helping maintaining a clean and
organized data center is a must for us, and we are looking for
someone help us continue to meet those standards. What You’ll
Achieve • Hardware installation & decommission of enterprise
servers and cabling infrastructure. • Troubleshooting and repair of
data center hardware and networking infrastructure. • Rack and
stack of data center equipment, including but not limited to
servers, networking devices, monitoring systems and other
equipment. • Rack installation including putting racks in place,
cabling, power up and handoff of servers to internal provisioning
teams. • Monitoring of DC environments using monitoring tools •
Monitoring and responding in a ticketing environment that is used
and monitored by multiple internal owners and teams. •
Documentation of activities and create/modify SOPs. • Decommission
life cycle of data center hardware. • Inventory process, order
replacement parts and return failed parts as required. • Structured
cabling, labelling, and troubleshooting of fiber/copper/telecom
cables. • System power supplies and cabling installation,
troubleshooting and repair. • Be able to complete small projects on
your own and work with your manager in planning and completing
larger local projects. • Show professionalism on your daily data
center routine activities. • Receive/ship data center equipment as
needed. • Install, Remove, Troubleshoot hardware in data centers
racks without disturbing other hardware and critical infrastructure
on site. • Maintain asset inventory and update internal
applications as needed. • Be accessible via cell phone and willing
to work onsite as needed. • Participate and complete training that
aligns with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new
relevant technologies. • Act within Service Level Agreements (SLA)
on the tickets assigned to you in your space. Who You Are • What
you’ll bring with you: o 5 years of professional experience working
in a data center environment. o Knowledge of data center power
types and standards o Troubleshooting Experience on servers,
networking devices and IT equipment. o Knowledge of Dell iDRAC and
PowerEdge Servers o Inventory management experience, including
ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts. o Capability to
lift at least 75 pounds of weight for rack installation and other
activities. o Ability to prioritize work based on business needs
and urgency. o Ability to communicate and write effectively in both
verbal and written communication mediums. o Experience taking
on-call shifts and ability to respond to critical events as needed.
o Experience escalating issues to Sr. onsite staff and management
as needed. • Why you might stand out from other talent: o
Professional Linux OS experience is preferred o Exposure to working
with RACADM CLI is a plus o Dell Openmanage Enterprise experience
highly preferred
